LOE-I89

WEVE GOT YOUR NUMBER

Introducing LoĒ-i89™, the new Cardinal glass that takes center of glass U-factors to a remarkable 0.20 when coupled with LoĒ²® or LoĒ³® glass and argon fill in a double-pane unit. Without argon and with or without capillary tubes, the unit still delivers a U-factor of just 0.23 – perfect for high altitudes. You get triple pane performance in a double-pane window. So take your window U-factors to a new low… with LoĒ-i89.

There’s no need to go to triple-pane windows to meet the various energy-saving guidelines. No need to invest in redesigning your windows and altering your manufacturing processes either. A double-pane IG unit with LoĒ-i89 can meet the guidelines.

TURN YOUR DOUBLE-PANE WINDOWS INTO TRIPLE-PANE PERFORMERS

LoĒ-i89 is sputtered onto the indoor lite, the #4 surface, thus reflecting escaping heat back into the room and lowering U-factors. Coupled with our LoĒ² or LoĒ³ glass and argon fill, this double-pane unit delivers performance much better than clear triple-pane – a center of glass U-factor of just 0.20 compared to 0.35 with clear triple-pane.

To surpass the U-factor performance of LoĒ-i81 IG double-pane unit, you would need to go to a triple-pane unit with a low-E coating in each gap.

LOE-180

FREEZING COLD OUTSIDE CARDINAL COMFORT INSIDE

When the weather turns frigid, Cardinal LoĒ-180™ glass is the perfect cold remedy. It provides excellent insulating capability, even better than our previous high solar gain glass, blocking heat loss to the outside and reflecting heat back into the room. What’s more, it’s the ideal glass for passive solar applications because it allows the winter sun’s heat to pass into the home.

Regardless of where your home is located, choosing windows that provide you with the highest level of comfort and energy savings year-round is extremely important. And choosing the right glass for your windows is the most important factor in the decision. Go beyond ordinary low-e glass – choose Cardinal LoĒ-180, the ideal choice for passive solar designs.

LOE-180 MAKES IT COZY INSIDE

During cold weather, the insulating effect of your windows has a direct impact on how your rooms feel. Typically, 75% of the exposed surface of a window is glass, and the temperature of the room side of the glass directly affects the air temperature in the room. The better insulated the window glass, the warmer your room will be.

The table below compares the room-side center-of-glass temperatures of four different glass types against two different winter conditions.

The superior insulating capability of Cardinal LoĒ-180 is a key factor in the construction of comfortable windows for cold climates. The dramatic comfort improvement from windows with warm glass surfaces also means the relative humidity of the indoor air can be controlled and maintained properly. Proper humidity levels (not too much, not too little) will improve comfort and promote a healthier living environment.

BLOCKS OUT THE COLD LETS IN THE SUNS HEAT AND LIGHT

Cardinal LoĒ-180 delivers excellent cold weather performance – its insulation value (U-factor) is a low 0.26, and with a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.69, it lets the winter sun’s heat pass into the home. It also blocks 71 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays. While blocking out the cold and UV rays, it lets daylight stream in – more light than ordinary low-e glass.

OUR UNIQUE COATING IS THE KEY

Cardinal employs a state-of-the-art sputter coating process that is unmatched by any other glass manufacturer. The glass is coated with a microscopically thin, optically transparent layer of silver sandwiched between layers of anti-reflective metal oxide coatings. A protective coating is applied to assure durability and long life. The coating is virtually invisible to the eye – it’s just like looking through clear glass.

Count on LoĒ-180 to always meet or exceed expectations

Cardinal I.Q. (Intelligent Quality Assurance Program) ensures the quality of every piece of glass. Using their own patented inspection systems, they thoroughly examine the glass from start to finish.

SAVE ENERGY WITH GLASS SO SMART IT CAN CONTROL YOUR COMFORT

ENERGY STAR COMPLAINT IN MOST OF NORTHERN NORTH AMERICA

In conjunction with an efficient window frame design, LoĒ-180 can comply in the Northern zone of U.S. ENERGY STAR. The combination of high solar gain and excellent insulating value allows LoĒ-180 to achieve one of the highest ER values for a double-pane glass in the Canadian window rating program. Many of these double-pane windows can then achieve Canadian ENERGY STAR compliance as far north as zone C.

GLASS PERFORMANCE

Think of LoĒ-180 glass as invisible insulation. Although windows provide beautiful views and wonderful natural light, they can also account for up to 25% of the annual heating cost for a home. In the winter, LoĒ-180 helps homes stay warm and cozy by blocking heat loss to the cold weather outside while welcoming the sun’s heat inside.

LoĒ-180 can be purchased in a variety of custom shapes and sizes. To learn more about it and other Cardinal glass products, ask your dealer.

LOE-272

THE CLEAREST CHOICE FOR TOTAL COMFORT

Whether it is 20 below or 40 in the shade, you can bring year-round comfort to your home with Cardinal IG Company’s LoĒ²-272® glass. In winter, LoĒ²-272 reflects heat back into the room. In summer, it rejects the sun’s heat and damaging solar rays. Additionally, it is the clearest, highest performing glass you can buy – without haze or a bluish cast.

HOT OR COLD OUTSIDE CARDINAL COMFORT INSIDE

The insulating effect of your windows has a direct impact on how your rooms feel. Typically, 75% of the exposed surface of a window is glass, and the temperature of the room-side of the glass directly affects the air temperature in the room. Therefore, the better insulated the window glass, the warmer your room will be.

The American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) Comfort Standard 55 suggests that when glass surface temperature fall below 11º C, the result is thermal discomfort. In order to maintain comfortable temperatures during the winter, LoĒ²-272 glass produces surface temperatures that will stay above this point during the coldest outdoor conditions.

SOLAR CONTROL WITH THE COOLEST WINDOWS UNDER THE SUN

Windows made with clear glass or ordinary low-E glass can be the biggest offenders when it comes to the air-conditioning load in your home. When it’s hot outside, the sun comes raging in, making your house uncomfortable. This high solar heat gain can contribute to more than 50% of air-conditioning costs.

LoĒ²-272 blocks enough solar heat that cooling loads can be cut by 25% or more compared to ordinary low-E and clear glass. Controlling solar gain not only saves energy during the air-conditioning season, it also improves the comfort and livability of sunny rooms during the spring and fall when the cooling system isn’t normally used.

The oppressive heat of the sun is composed of visible light and invisible infrared energy. LoĒ²-272 is produced with a patented coating technology that allows the daylight to pass through the glass and filters out solar heat. In fact, it blocks 84% of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and delivers a remarkable 96% performance improvement in winter nighttime insulation (R-value) compared to non-coated air-filled insulating glass.

This translates to comfort and substantial energy savings.

THINK OF IT AS INVISIBLE INSULATION

The insulating value of LoĒ²-272 is nearly double that of an ordinary insulating glass unit, or the equivalent of a quad-glazed window!

LoĒ²-272 even outperforms the tinted glass often used in warm, sunny climates. You see out and the light shines in, with no heavy bronze or smoke-colored tints to darken the personality of your home.

Really, no matter what it is like outside, you can count on LoĒ²-272 glass to comfort you and your loved ones on the inside – all year long.

LOE-366

A NEW STANDARD

Cardinal’s LoĒ³-366® glass (pronounced low E cubed-366) is the ultimate performance glass. It just might make all other low-E glasses obsolete. LoĒ³-366 delivers the ideal balance of solar control and high visibility. And it provides the highest levels of year-round comfort and energy savings, making it the perfect glass no matter where you live. The secret? An unprecedented triple layer of silver. This is beyond ordinary low-E glass; LoĒ³-366 sets the new standard.

LOW-E TIMES THREE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Cardinal has, for years, worked with top-tier window manufacturers by providing energy-efficient LoĒ² glass. Now with three layers of year-round thermal protection, the benefits are exceptional.

The result: a clear coating that blocks even more solar gain than ever before, reflects heat and lets the light stream in.

ENERGY SAVING ALL YEAR LONG

The full-year benefits of LoĒ³-366 can be clearly seen. When the temperature soars in the summer, ordinary window glass just can’t beat the heat. Tinted glass spoils the view. LoĒ³-366 is formulated to reject solar heat while maintaining attractive visibility. So it keeps the heat out while letting light in. As a matter of fact, LoĒ³-366 glass is our ultimate in performance and clarity among all of Cardinal’s clear coated products.

What’s more, LoĒ³-366 provides the ultimate in fading protection. It blocks 95% of the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays – a leading cause of fading (visible light also contributes to fading) – so your furniture, carpets, curtains and wall coverings stay beautiful for years.

During the cold weather, the insulating effect of your windows has a direct impact on how your rooms feel. The better insulated the window glass, the warmer your room will feel. In fact, the Efficient Windows Collaborative suggests that when glass surface temperature falls below 11°C, there is a risk of thermal discomfort. To maintain the best comfort during the winter, select a glass product that produces surface temperatures that will stay above this point during the coldest outdoor conditions.

According to the chart below, the insulating capability of LoĒ³-366 can’t be compared to any other glass product. This is a key factor in the construction of comfortable homes. Additionally, the dramatic comfort improvement in windows with warm glass surfaces means the humidity of the indoor air can be controlled and maintained properly. Proper humidity levels will improve comfort and promote a healthier living environment.
